The Djankrom District in the Suhum Area of The Church of Pentecost has held a graduation service for 109 members who took part in the Lay Leaders Training School course organised by the church.

The service, which was held at the Central Assembly on Sunday, February 9, 2020, was chaired by the Area Head, Apostle Anthony Eghan Kwesi Ekuban, assisted by the Djankrom District Minister, Pastor Samuel Aboagye Yirenkyi.

Apostle Ekuban congratulated the graduands for successfully completing the four-year certificate course.

In his keynote address, Rev. Dr. Justice Arthur (Coordinator of the Graduate School of Theology and Mission at the Pentecost University College) commended the graduands for upgrading their knowledge in theology.

Rev. Dr. Arthur, who was the Guest Speaker, explained that knowledge acquisition in theology is key to possessing the nations’ agenda of the church.

He urged the graduands to be humble and use the knowledge acquired to tell the world about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. “Use the knowledge and certificate acquired to impact generations,” he concluded.

The Area Coordinator of the Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee, Pastor Patrick Koomson, who doubles as District Minister for Coaltar District, said that a sharpened ax brings great joy to the user, hence the need for leadership training.

He commended the Executive Council of the church for placing much importance on ministerial training and development. He noted that the National Discipleship and Leadership Development Committee has developed a five-step structure for training leaders in the church. These include the Foundation Level also known as the Pre-ordination Course and Advance Level 1-4 for ordained officers. “Certificate is given to those who successfully complete this 5-step course,” he added.

Among the courses that the graduands went through are: The Church of Pentecost Administration, The Doctrine of Christ, Creation Care, Discipleship in The Church of Pentecost, Church Finance, Mentoring and Coaching the Next Generation and Leadership Integrity.
