Agormanya Area Children’s Ministry Holds ‘Petra Training’ For Children’s Workers
The Children’s Ministry of the Agormanya Area of The Church of Pentecost has organised a five-day training for Children’s Workers in the Area. The training was patterned in the curricula of the Petra Institute for Children’s Ministry in South Africa.
It was held from 29th April to 3rd May, 2019 at the premises of the Modern School Complex at Krobo Odumase. The ninety participants who took part in the training programme were drawn from all the districts in the Area.
Subjects treated included, routine cyclical activity of welcome songs and games, devotions, practice and simulation, reflection and storytelling.
During the training, it was indicated that good children’s workers must develop themselves in relational traits like observing the child, greeting the child, listening to the child, going to the level of the child, asking permission to join the child at play, reflecting on the child’s words, permission to introduce a game to the child, handing over of the game to the child and storytelling.
The training was interspersed with practical sessions where participants went out of their classrooms to engage the children of the Krobo Odumase community.
The Agormanya Area Head, Apostle James Gabriel Quardson, visited the training centre to encourage the participants to continue working to fulfil their divine call of building the children of the Church.
The Krobo Odumase District Minister, Pastor Abubakari Issah-Gustav, in a closing remark on behalf of the Area Head, admonished the participants to put to use what they have been equipped with.
Reading from Psalm 8:2 and Matthew 18:3, he entreated the participants to develop the hearts of children in order to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
The Agormanya Area Children’s Ministry Leader, Pastor George Owusu, led the facilitating team. He expressed his appreciation to the Area Head for the support in making the maiden training a success.
