Where Will You Spend Your Drought When Your Brook Dries Up? – Apostle Nsaful Asks

The Koforidua Effiduase Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Daniel Yeboah Nsaful, has admonished Christians to prepare for their retirement while in active service.

According to him, Christianity is not only about spiritual things but also the physical life of people (holistic ministry).”

Apostle Nsaful gave the advice in a sermon to commemorate Pensions Day observed throughout the Church on Sunday, October 21, 2018, at the Victory Assembly in Nsukwao District.

Speaking on the topic, “Where Will You Spend Your Drought When Your Brook Dries Up Sometime Later?” based 1 Kings 17:1-7 and Proverbs 6:6, Apostle Nsaful said just as the brook that fed Elijah dried up sometime later, everything that represents a brook such as life, parental love, and profession will not always be there.

He said that life will come to an end one day, saying, “The brook of your life will dry up sometime later; how prepared are you?”

On parental love, he indicate that because every brook of your life will dry up, people cannot always depend on their parents.

Touching on the brook of profession, Apostle Nsaful said that when people start working in their productive years they fail to realize that they would one day not have the strength to continue working, but with time the brook of profession will dry up.

He said that in the case of Elijah, God directed him to a widow who fed him till the situation normalised.

“Who will be your ‘widow’ when your brook dries up sometime later? Retirement is an occupational drought that will hit every person, whether one is working in the formal or informal sector,” he stated.

He added that every work that puts food on the table is a brook from which the worker drinks. “While in active service, we are able to drink from the well but we should not lose sight of the fact that the brook will one day dry up,” he said.

He therefore advised Christians to make adequate preparations for their retirement while in active service, since it is only when one is in active service that he/she gets the remunerations and benefits.

He described such periods as the raining season of life where there is much water in the brook. However, he said, the brook will dry up during the dry season, and so there is the need for adequate preparations towards retirement.

Apostle Nsaful identified three things that can serve as ‘widows’ when the brook dries up. These are investment in money, time and energy. He advised church members without bank accounts to open one as soon as possible and stop impulse buying in order to save for the future.

“One ‘widow’ who can be very helpful in the future are our children. They will cater for you in your old age,” he said.
