Until You Are Grateful You Can’t Take Dominion – Apostle Assabil

“Until we are grateful to God for being Africans we can’t take dominion over what has been given to us by God.”

This profound Statement was made by the Achimota Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Joseph Assabil, during the evening session of the Area Officers’ Retreat at Achimota Central on Monday, March 12, 2018.

Apostle Joseph Assabil was speaking on the theme: “Man’s Depraved Nature” with scriptural references from Romans 3:23, Genesis 1:26-27; Acts 17:25-31, Genesis 6:5, Isaiah 1:1-7, and Ephesians 2:1-3.

According to Apostle Assabil, God made mankind in his own image and likeness. He said being created in “likeness” means being alike but not equal. He said that our likeness with God is seen in our ability to love, being merciful, supportive, forgiving, holiness, and selfless service, among others.

He said most people particularly Africans don’t know the value God has placed on them.

“We always think we can do better in a white skin but that is a lie. Until we are grateful we can’t know our value and take dominion as well. Until we are grateful for what we have we can’t use it for good,” he said.

Touching on the extent of human depravity, the Achimota Area Head said “you are depraved if you don’t feel the burden to provide for your own household. You are depraved if don’t see the need to keep your country clean.”

He said Christ came to die to save all humankind from this depravity but not to necessarily make them wealthy.

“Did anyone beg God to give Ghana oil fields? No, we didn’t pray for it, God Himself placed it there,” he said.

Apostle Assabil, therefore, urged Church leaders to preach about how mankind would draw closer to God and not about prosperity since God chooses to bless anyone whenever He wants.

He concluded by saying that the whole point of being saved is for one to submit to God’s will and to be willing to obey Him at all times.

Present at the gathering were Mrs Rebecca Assabil (Wife of the Area Head), as well as ministers and wives within the zone.
