Twifo Zone Launches Environmental Care Campaign
The Twifo Zone in the Assin Foso Area of The Church of Pentecost has officially launched its Environmental Care Campaign. The launch took place at the Asikafo Assembly in the Twifo Praso Area, on Friday, June 14, 2019.
The launch was in fulfilment of the 5-year vision of The Church of Pentecost dubbed: Vision 2023, which calls on all members of the Church to “possess” the environment through cleanliness. It was under the theme, “My Environment, My Concern.”
The launch was organized in collaboration with the Twifo Traditional Council, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Ghana Police Service, the Ghana National Fire Service, the Forestry Services Commission and the District Assembly. It was chaired by the Assin Foso Area Head, Apostle Sylvester Arhin.
Some of the activities carried out to commemorate the occasion included a float through the principal streets of the town, a massive clean-up exercise, tree planting exercise, among others. The Forestry Services Commission supplied 480 acacia tree seedlings towards the tree planting exercise.
In a brief exhortation on the theme: “Live A Healthy Life And Stop Worrying God With Prayers.”, Apostle Sylvester Arhin explained that, when Christians adhere to the need to keep their environment clean, they will not fall sick, and as a result, worry God with prayers for divine healing.
“Stop praying to God to heal you when you fall sick for failing to keep your environment clean. Cleanliness, they say, is next to godliness,” he stressed.
He called upon Christians to be law-abiding and stop illegal mining activities known as “Galamsey.” He stated that this act destroys water bodies and pollutes the environment.
The Assin Fosu Area Head also urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to judiciously use the Assemblies Common Fund to develop their Areas.
