The Perfect Gift

From Thursday, February 14 to Sunday, February 17, 2019, the Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, were scheduled to visit the Suame, Techiman and Kintampo areas for the first leg of this year’s Officers Retreat and Apostolisation.

Consequently, the “first couple” of The Church of Pentecost fellowshipped with the pastorate and officers of Suame Area at the Tetelestai Assembly church auditorium on Thursday to officially begin their 4-day apostolic visit.

At the service, the Chairman took the opportunity to unpack the Vision 2023 of “Possessing the Nations” and also elaborate on the theme for 2019 “I Will Build My Church”.

In his sermon, Apostle Eric Nyamekye advised Christians not to be satisfied with building strong churches but possessing the nations for Christ.

“Jesus Christ did not call us from the world just so we would come to Church to worship Him. But He has also sent us back into the world to witness and to serve. So that, through us, the wisdom of the Lord would be made known to the people of the world. However, we seem to have embraced the former and forsaken the latter,” he noted.

Just as Elijah fearlessly confronted King Ahab and the prophets of Baal in 1 Kings 18 and 19, the Chairman urged Christians to be bold and relentless in the pursuit to possess every sphere of life for Jesus Christ even to the peril of their own lives.

These words of Apostle Nyamekye had a telling impact on the congregation, particularly Brother Emmanuel Nai-Mensah.

The 27-year-old Emmanuel Nai-Mensah is the chief media person for the Tetelestai Assembly, Suame District and the Suame Area. He is also the young CEO of Ultimate Knowledge, a media organisation that specializes in graphic design, photography, video editing and pencil arts, among others.

As Emmanuel went about his normal duty of taking pictures and videos during the service, he listened with rapt attention as the Chairman passionately challenged Christians to be up to the task of possessing the nations. In fact, the message which was powerfully ministered by the Chairman struck every cord in his body.

At the end of the service, the Suame Area Head, Apostle Michael Collins Asiedu announced to the audience that the Chairman would be joining the Suame Area again to round up his apostolic visitation after his visits to Kintampo and Techiman.

This announcement by the Area Head sounded like music to Emmanuel’s ears. He, therefore, conceived in his heart and mind to put together a special gift for the Chairman on his return. So immediately, after the service, he began to think about the best gift to present to the Chairman. After long hours of brainstorming he settled on the “perfect gift” and he began to work in earnest.

Four days later, the Chairman and his entourage, which included his wife, Mrs. Mary Nyamekye, joined the Suame Area for Sunday Service as earlier communicated.

The Chairman once again took the stage and poured his heart out to the audience challenging them to be agents of transformation and to take their rightful position as Salt of the Earth and Light of the World.

As the service neared its end, Emmanuel whispered into the ears of the Suame District Minister, Pastor Lawrence Oduro-Nyarko about a surprise gift he wanted to present to the Chairman.

To everyone’s surprise, Emmanuel pulled out a framed penciled picture portrait of the Chairman which he had spent the last four days working on.

As artistic and thoughtful the gesture may seem, the wonderful artwork which bears a striking resemblance to the Chairman, was just the perfect gift to a man who had spent the last four days pouring himself out to God’s people. No gift would have been more suited than giving him back himself literally!
