Take Your Righteousness Into The World – Chairman Tells Christians
The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has said that Christians must not limit the righteousness of God to the walls of church auditoriums but rather take it into the world to transform society.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye said this on Saturday, September 21, 2019, when he met with ministers and officers of the church in the Koforidua Area to round up his visit to the Eastern Region.
Highlighting the 5-year strategic vision of the Church dubbed, “Vision 2023,” the Chairman observed that the proliferation of churches in Ghana has not had any positive impact on the country.
He indicated that the growing levels of crime and insecurity in the country are a great indictment on a country that has over 70 per cent of its population professing to be Christians.
“Seven or more out of every 10 people you meet in Ghana claim to be Christians. If the 30 per cent of the population were the only ones indulging in corruption, we would not have felt it. However, we feel its impact because most Christians are corrupt and do not understand what it means to be Christians,” he said.
Reading Proverbs 14:34, Apostle Eric Nyamekye said that the current state of the country is a testament that churches do not exalt nations, rather it is righteousness. He, therefore, called on Christians to carry the righteousness of God along with them to the various spheres of society so as to transform society for the better.
The Chairman said that many Christians tend to be pious inside the church but act contrarily immediately they step out of the church auditorium. This, according to him, has accounted for the depraved state of the country. He, therefore, advised Christians to apply the principles and values of the Kingdom of God wherever they find themselves in order to change the fortunes of the country.
“When Jesus was on earth, He said that for as long as He was in the world, He was the light of the world. However, when He was about to ascend into Heaven, He told His believers that we are now the Light of the World. This means that we have a mandate to carry our Light to the world to dispel the darkness in the world. If we complain about the evil in the land, then we must first ask ourselves, ‘Where is our light?’” he said.
The Chairman said that Christians must not look on unconcerned as the nation is plunged into darkness and chaos, but endeavour to affect society with their Christian virtues. This, he said, is what Vision 2023 seeks to achieve through its “Possessing the Nations” mantra.
He explained that, through Vision 2023, the church seeks to equip her members and to release them into society as agents of transformation to reverse the moral decadence that has become prevalent in the country.
Apostle Eric Nyamekye, therefore, admonished Christians, particularly members of the church, to uphold their Christian virtues in their everyday life so as to influence every sphere of society for Jesus Christ. He also encouraged church leaders and members to commit themselves to the effective implementation of the Vision at their various stations.
