Scarborough Area Of COP Holds Maiden Area Women’s Convention
The Scarborough Area of The Church of Pentecost Canada Inc. recently held its first-ever Women’s Convention since it was created in 2017.
The convention, which took place from 22nd-25th August, 2019, at the Scarborough Central Chapel on the theme, “Empowering Women to Possess the Nations” (Matthew 16:18, Titus 2:14), drew participants from the various districts in the Area, namely Ottawa, Montreal, Southwestern Ontario, Scarborough and Hamilton.
The event was aimed at empowering the women to be key partners in possessing the nations’ agenda of the Church.
In his opening address, the Area Head, Apostle Dr Alex Agyei-Gyamera, said that the rationale behind the theme for the convention was to prepare the women in the Area to become courageous in order to champion the cause of Jesus Christ as agents of transformation.
According to him, there is a corporate anointing whenever believers converge together to pray for the move of the Lord (Psalm 133:1-3).
As part of the convention, health education workshops were held on Saturday afternoon for the entire congregation. Led by Deaconess Dr Ekua Amponsah Agyemang, the Western Canada Area Women’s Leader who was also the keynote speaker for the convention and Dr Samuel Adiamah, together with some qualified health professionals in the Area, the delegates were taken through mental health and other health issues.
The young ladies in the Area took their turn on Saturday night in the church’s quest to bridge the generational gap. The Area Mass Choir led the congregation through a time of absolute worship at the end of the service.
The presence of God was mightily felt throughout the convention as He poured out His Spirit on the Church anew to heal the sick, deliver the oppressed and imparted the participants for ministry.
To the glory of God, the 2019 Scarborough Area Women’s Convention was successfully brought to a close on Sunday, August 25, 2019, with a charge on the congregation to go and transform their homes, churches, workplaces and their communities with the values and principles of the Kingdom of God.
