“Sacrifice For Love” – Apostle Badu Wood Tells Couples

The Asokwa Area Head of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Ekow Badu Wood, has urged married couples to sacrifice for their partners in order to receive the blessings of God.

He said this in a sermon titled, “The Sacrifice of Love” at a wedding ceremony between Samuel Ofori and Eunice Sarpong Mensah, daughter of Pastor Benjamin Sarpong Mensah of Apemhase District. The wedding was held at the New Jerusalem Assembly of Apemhase District in Abuakwa Area on Saturday, 7th April, 2018

Reading from Judges 1:12-15 and Joshua 15:16-17, Apostle Badu Wood said that the two scripture passages talk about Othniel, son of Kenaz and Aksah, daughter of Caleb. He explained that anytime narratives of scripture are repeated, then God intends it for emphasis.

Apostle Badu Wood, a Member on the Executive Council who is also the Coordinator of Ashanti Regional Coordinating Committee, challenged husbands to demonstrate the boldness of Othniel who stood in a time of war in order to win the pledge of Aksah as a wife.

Referencing Ephesians 5:25-28, he explained that Jesus Christ, the groom also offered Himself for the church which is His bride. He entreated husbands to emulate same.

Apostle Badu Wood advised couples who are facing challenges in their marriage to try and iron things out to make their marriage work since God has divinely joined them together.

“Do not think that if you were married to a pastor you would have a successful marriage. No, you don’t know the difficulties that our wives go through just because of the nature of our work. Be thankful to God and work for your marriage to attain what you desire,” he pointed out.

He called for unity in marriage since it is the pivot around which successful marriage revolves.

Apostle Ekow Badu Wood concluded by saying that God blessed Othniel, who became the first Judge of Israel, because he loved his wife Aksah.

Present at the ceremony were Apostle E. K. Osei Ofosu (Abuakwa Area Head) and his wife, Apostle Obeng Atuah (Retired), Prophet Joseph Appiah-Kubi (Retired), and other serving and retired ministers of the Church within and outside the Area.
