Rev Prof Paul Yaw Frimpong-Manso has been elected President of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council (GPCC).

Delegates of the national delegates conference at the Royal House Chapel in Accra overwhelmingly voted by hand to endorse the nomination of the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Church.

The over 200 delegates overwhelmingly voted Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso as new President to replace Apostle Prof. Opoku Onyinah whose seven-year tenure is ending this year.

His nomination by the National Executive Committee of the Council was put to the council’s national delegates conference on Wednesday, September 5, 2018.

The General Secretary of the council, Rev Emmanuel T. Barrigah who announced Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso’s nomination described him as an effective communicator, proactive and pragmatic leader, who was leading his church to do great things, especially an expansion drive.

With the nomination out of the way, the President of the council, Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, led delegates to discuss the voting method which the delegates accepted to be voting by hand rather than by ballot.

In his acceptance speech, Rev Prof Frimpong-Manso said he was humbled by the confidence reposed in him.

“What I want from you is your prayer, support and encouragement. If we are united, we can move mountains,” he stated.

A date is yet to be set for the investiture of the new President.

From four members at its inception in 1969, the Council now boasts of more than 200 member churches.

The founding members of the council are The Christ Apostolic Church, the Apostolic Church, The Church of Pentecost and the Assemblies of God Church.
