PIWC Sakumono Holds ‘Back To Prayer Convention’

The 2018 “Back to Prayer Convention” of the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC Sakumono) has been held.

The prayer festival which opened on Monday, October 22, 2018, attracted many participants from far and near. It was on the theme, “Into the Deep” taken from Luke 5:4.

Among the speakers were the Presiding Elder, Michael Ofosu Ampadu; the Resident Minister, Anthony Owusu Sekyere Kwarteng, and the Centre Manager for the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC), Apostle Samuel Nana Yaw Adjei.

Speaking on the third day of the conference on the topic, “Nonetheless,” Apostle Nana Yaw Adjei challenged the congregation to be ready for new things in their lives irrespective of their current situations.

Quoting from Luke 5:1-11 and John 12:12, among others, he called on Christians not to live only on facts, but also in truth. “Soon and very soon, your critics shall become your comrades,” he said,

“In football, when the ball enters the net, that is when people celebrate. However, in Christianity, we celebrate before we win,” he said, adding, “For us the first half of the match is not the end of the game, but if you score at the 90th minute, that is what is needed.”

He encouraged Christians not to lose hope in life, saying, to every Friday there is a Sunday; to every failure, there is a success.”  He said Job in spite of all his troubles regained all that he lost.

“Jesus appears at empty times; He appeared when Peter had toiled all night and his boat was empty,” he said, stressing, “From now onwards, may you never be pitied but rather be envied.”

Continuing on Day 4 of the convention on October 25, 2018, Apostle Nana Yaw Adjei said that prayer has no substitute. “The Chief Executive Officer of the universe, Jesus Christ, when he was leaving the earth urged men to pray always and not to faint in prayers and never to lose hope in prayers”, he said

Reading from the Book of Acts 12: 1-7, he indicated that if the church sleeps, the spirit of Herod will take control over it. He therefore encouraged Christians not to give up in prayer, saying, “The prayers of the church changed the modus operandi of Herod towards the annihilation of Peter.

“The Church said no, and agonizing prayers were said for Peter and the Lord released him from the claws of Herod who had a vexing and killer spirit.”

According to Apostle Nana Yaw Adjei, there is a sight of pain that will make believers pray, and keep them on their knees, adding that the pain of childlessness gave Hannah her breakthrough when she offered payers unto the Lord.

“When intense prayers are embarked on by the church, faith levels arise, chains fall off, prison doors open, and enemies are put to sleep,” he stressed.

He further urged Christians not to accept any negative happenings in their lives and attribute it to the doing of the Lord. He however encouraged Christians to continually pray since God hears and answers prayers.

Music was provided by Life Impact, the resident choir of PIWC Sakumono, Eunice Coffie, Mary Annan and Cecelia Quarm of Firestone Worship Centre.
