Pastor and Mrs. Ampong: Celebrating 33 Years In Full-Time Ministry

John Kofi Ampong was born on Friday, January 30, 1953 At Assin Akonfudi in the Central Region to Opanin Kwaku Ampong of Asanso Patasi in Ashanti Bekwai and Obaapanin Adjoa Tawiah of Assin Akonfudi, both of blessed memory. Kofi Ampong was the seventh born amongst 11 siblings.

John Kofi Ampong started elementary education at Assin Akonfudi Local Authority School from Class (1) in 1958 and completed Middle Form 4 in 1968 at the same school.

Kofi Ampong was employed at the Ministry of Agriculture at Assin Foso in the Central Region from 1970-1973. Between 1973 and 1974, he was enrolled into the Agriculture Training School at Bunso now Bunso Cocoa College. After completion, he was posted to Assin Foso in the Central Region as Field Assistant Grade III (F/A III).

In 1981 to 1982 he continued his studies at Bunso Cocoa College to study on Cocoa Agronomy and Swollen Shoot Treatment. After completion, he was promoted to F/A II (Field Assistant grade II) and was posted to Denkyira Jukwa in the Central Region.

At about 1:30am in 1974, the Lord revealed Himself to him urging him to join The Church of Pentecost, for He the Lord has a task for him to do. He did not hesitate on the revelation and went to the Assin Foso Central Assembly of The Church of Pentecost and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour. He was baptized by Pastor Yaw Frimpong of blessed memory. Exactly a week after his conversion, there was a prayer meeting and he was baptized in the Holy Spirit.

John met and married Monica Adjoa Adjeiwaa, now of blessed memory. He later met and married Susana Ama Fowaah Asare. The Lord has blessed them with two sons and seven daughters.

John Kofi Ampong was called into the full-time ministry of The Church of Pentecost in 1985 at Denkyira Jukwa through Apostle D. Y. A. Owusu (now deceased), the then Cape Coast Regional Head, upon the recommendation of the then Pastor S. R. Odum (now Apostle S. R. Odum, retired) of Denkyira Jukwa District. In the course of the ministry, Pastor Ampong served at Ehiamankyene (1985-1986), Osenase (1986-1992), Akim Oda (1992-1995), Kpando (1995-1999), Shama (1999-2002), Takoradi Ridge (2002-2007), Nkawkaw (2007-2011), Twifo Hemang (2011-2014) and finally Samreboi (2014-2018).

Indeed, Pastor Ampong could not have had a successful ministry without the support of his hardworking wife, Mrs Susana Ampong who distinguished herself as a true Minister’s Wife. The duo formed a formidable team to champion the Kingdom business in every facet of their ministry.

A retirement service would be held in honour of Pastor John and Mrs. Susana Ampong on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Samreboi Central Assembly in the Asankragwa Area of The Church of Pentecost.
