Let’s Hand Over A Praying-Pentecostal Church To The Next Generation

The General Secretary of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, has advised church leaders to whip up the spirit of fervent prayer among members of the church.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi said this when he delivered a sermon titled: “Praying To Get Results” during the climax of the Awoshie District Prayer Festival event on Friday, March 15, 2019.

In his sermon, Apostle Kumi-Larbi pointed out that the early members of the Church recorded great signs and wonders because they engaged in fervent prayer.

He noted that Jesus admonishes every believer to pray without ceasing, hence prayer is a Christian responsibility.

The General Secretary, however, added that the Church does not pray just because it is expected to; but because prayer is vital in sustaining the life of the Church.

He explained that the Holy Spirit, who is the life of the Church, works in the church through Prayer and the Word of God, stressing that: “The church that prays will have power and will make a lasting impact for Christ.”

Apostle Kumi-Larbi, therefore, urged Christians to emulate the prayer pattern of the early Church who did not spend time praying for materials needs but focused on spiritual empowerment (Acts 4:23-31).

“They prayed for spiritual understanding, strength through the Spirit and the infilling of the Spirit. In essence, their prayer was mainly ‘God use me’ and not ‘God give me,’” he said.

Apostle Kumi-Larbi also observed that the zeal for prayer among members in the Church is declining in recent times, and charged Church leaders to help to inculcate the passion for prayer, among members especially the youth.

“The Church of Pentecost was built through prayer, therefore it must be sustained with prayer. Let’s work hard to maintain and hand over a praying-Pentecostal Church to the next generation,” he said.
