Kaneshie Area Ends Easter Convention With Sports

Over 800 youth members of the Kaneshie Area of The Church of Pentecost on Easter Monday [April 2, 2018], thronged the Asamoah Gyan Football Pitch at Accra Academy to take part in the 4th edition of the Area’s Sports Fiesta.

The event, which is an initiative of the Area Youth Pastor, Pastor Daniel Okyei Boakye, is organised on Easter Mondays to bring all the youth in the Area together to undertake various sport disciplines and other fun games. It also gives members the opportunity to interact, fellowship, bond in the spirit of love and ultimately, win souls through sports evangelism.

Members from the 21 districts of the Area engaged in sack race, lime and spoon, eating competition, tag of peace, volley ball, table tennis and football. The scene at the park was one of joy and excitement as the spectators from all the districts sang and cheered their teams on to victory.

The delirium and drama at the event heightened when the Kaneshie Area Head, Apostle Mike Etrue, and Pastor Daniel Okyei Boakye led the Area Team in a football match against the Kaneshie District. The Area Team was made up of District Leaders, Area Youth Ministry Executive members and some officers like Elders Albert Narh and Emmanuel Abrokwah.

Although the Area Team lost by two goals to nil, Apostle Etrue and his team demonstrated their football skills to the admiration of the spectators.

Apostle Etrue commended the Area Youth Executive Committee and the sports committee for organising a colourful event. He further applauded the youth for participating in the event in their numbers and with much energy.

At the end of the competition, Chantan District won the ultimate prize with 28 points, while Old Fadama and Mount Zion Districts came second with 22 points each. Israel District followed with a total of 20 points. The 2017 champions, Shalom Worship Centre took the tenth position with 17 points.

Present at the event were Pastors Emmanuel Danah, Kingsley Addai, Samuel Tetteh Doku, Mrs Abigail Okyei Boakye (wife of Area Youth Pastor), Mrs Victoria Tetteh Doku and Mrs Abishag Asamoah Boakye, among others.
