Kaneshie Area Completes Petra Training

Child workers in the Kaneshie Area of The Church of Pentecost have successfully undergone a five-day training programme organised by the Area Children’s Ministry in conjunction with the Petra Institute.

The programme, which was held from August 27 to 31, 2018 at the Chantan Central church auditorium, recorded 70 participants drawn from all the districts in the Area. It was under the theme “Building Relationships With Children” (Matthew 18:1-5).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Kaneshie Area Children’s Ministry Leader, Pastor Emmanuel Kwasi Appiah, said that Ezra is a model for every child worker because “he prepared her heart for God’s word, learnt the Word, lived it and shared it.”

Pastor Appiah explained that to be an excellent child worker, one needs to understand the current and modern trends and undertake training workshops to sharpen his or her skills.

This, he said, would go a long way to help child workers to rightly divide the Word of God in order to impact the children entrusted to them.

He concluded by urging child workers to develop a personal and intimate relationship with God through daily reading the word of God so as to be able to discern the truth from falsehood.

In a short address at the closing ceremony, the Director of the Children’s Ministry of the Church, Apostle Fred Tiakor, noted that child workers are very important to the central development of The Church of Pentecost. He explained that they are the first point of call in impacting children and therefore should continue to be ambassadors of children everywhere they find themselves.

Some dignitaries who were present to the grace the occasion were Pastor Steve Kwesi Ewusie-Ocran, Overseer Edward A. Ayaabah-Wellington, Elder Emmanuel Kissiedu, Elder Emmanuel Larbi, Mr. Clement Oduro-Coffie, Mr. Jonathan Buah, Mr. Maxwell Atsu, Richmond Ofori, Mr. Michael Addo, Mrs. Vivian Appiah and Ms.Victoria Oye Baiden, among others.

Also in attendance was Mrs. Gladys Tiakor (Wife of the Children’s Director), who accompanied her husband to the event.
Petra Institute is a faith-based organisation called to serve the Christian community by building capacity for children’s ministry.
