Dansoman District Holds Homecoming Celebration

Dansoman District in the Dansoman Area of The Church of Pentecost held its maiden homecoming celebration from October 22 to 28, 2018.
The, which was under the theme: “The joy of the Lord is my Strength” (Nehemiah 8:10b, Psalm 27:1), coincided with the 32nd anniversary of the district since its creation.

In his welcome address, the District Minister, Pastor James Oko Barnor commended past ministers, officers and members who laboured tirelessly in planting the local assemblies that led to the creation of the District.

Making reference to the mission statement of the Church, which states: “The Church of Pentecost, exists to bring people everywhere to the saving knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ through the proclamation of the gospel, the planting of churches and the equipping of believers for every God-glorifying service,” Pastor Barnor said that the Dansoman District has made giant strides in fulfilling this mission over the years by raising gallant men and women of God who are serving in various positions in the church and the nation as a whole. In addition, the District has also “birth” other local assemblies and districts in the Area.

Pastor James Oko Barnor further explained that it is in the light of this that the District Executive members decided to organize a programme to bring all former ministers, officers and members together for a reunion to relive some fond memories; share experiences and motivate the current generation of members.

He also added that it is the desire of the district to raise funds through the Homecoming event to undertake key projects in the District.
“I am confident that the same God who has strengthened Dansoman District all these years would grant new strength for the coming years,” he concluded.

The highly-patronized programme was graced by Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi (Dansoman Area Head), Apostle Ato Addison (Retd.), Apostle Emmanuel K. Akpabli (Retd.) and other past ministers and officers including Apostle Nene O. Amegatcher (Retd.), Pastor Kwesi Pamfo Odum (Retd.), Pastor J. Y. Acquah (Retd.), Pastor Ato Nkansah, Pastor Job Wiredu, Pastor Osborn Nartey (Kingdom Life Chapel Int., U.K.), among several others.

As part of the weeklong event, past ministers shared personal testimonies and experiences during their stewardship and also prayed for the Church.

Speaking on the topic “Sacrificial Giving” (1 Kings 4:1-7) at the climax of the event, Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi spoke on “Sacrificial Giving” admonished members to give willingly to promote the Kingdom business.
