Chairman Eulogizes Elder D. T. Asare

The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye, has eulogized the late Elder Daniel Tete Asare of Gbegbeyise District in the Dansoman Area for making great impact in the Church.

Apostle Nyamekye said this during the memorial and burial service for the late Elder D. T. Asare on Saturday, October 27, 2018, at Dansoman, Accra.

The service was attended by people from all walks of life, including several ministers of the Church. Among them were Prophet David Kankam Beditor (Agona Swedru Area Head and Member of the Executive Council), Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi (Dansoman Area Head), Apostle Emmanuel Kwasi Osei Ofosu (Abuakwa Area Head), Apostle Patrick Aseyoro (Odorkor Area Head), and Prophet Foster Kwasi Aniakwaa (Mampong Area Head).

Others were Apostle Nene Ahorlu Ofoe Amegatcher (retired), former Director of the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM), and Apostle Emmanuel Akpabli (retired), among others.

Narrating his fond memories of his days in Dansoman in the early 1980s when he converted into The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye noted that it was Elder Asare who trained him up in the Lord and made him enjoy the Church. “I remember I used to go to his house for Bible discussions,” he said.

The Chairman described the late Elder as a leader who led the Church with zeal. He therefore called on Christians to serve God with dedication in every position entrusted to their care, saying that one does not need to be a pastor before they can dedicate themselves to the service of the Lord.

Born on August 23, 1937, to Elder James Tete Asare and Deaconess Mercy Yaa Ataala, both natives of Adukrom-Akuapem in the Eastern Region, D. T. Asare was ordained as an Elder in 1978 by Apostle Joseph Egyir Paintsil at Mamprobi Assembly.

He held the positions of Local Witness Movement Leader (now Evangelism Ministry) at the Mamprobi Assembly and Assistant Witness Movement Leader for Accra West Area, from 1981 to 1988. It was during his tenure as District Witness Movement Leader that Chemunaa, Banana Inn (now New Mamprobi), Dansoman No. 2 (now SSNIT FLAT), and Dansoman Sahara assemblies, which are now all district seats were opened.

He was appointed a Presiding Elder at the Gbegbeyise Assembly in 1980 (then under Dansoman District) and held the position for 12 continuous years. He was instrumental in the creation of the Gbegbeyise District from Dansoman District in 1995, and was one of the first District Executive Committee members.

Through him, the Lord raised many giants in the Church, some of whom are now ministers of the Gospel, while several others are Officers of the Church. He was gifted and had the grace to spot talents.

In a tribute, ministers who passed through his tutelage described him as a “Classical Pentecostal leader, a man of vision, prayerful, a powerful preacher, teacher, disciplinarian, loving, kind and affable.”

Elder D. T. Asare, a man described by many as the ‘Producer of Ministers’ and ‘Master Trainer,’ was called to be with his Maker on September 4, 2018, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital after a short illness. He was 81 and left behind a wife, Mrs. Felicia Asare, and six children, with the only male (Pastor Thomas Tete Asare) being a minister of the Church.
