“Arise And Shine In The Midst Of Darkness” – Youth Told

The Teshie-Nungua Area Youth Pastor of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Ebenezer Korankye Agyapong, has called on young Christians to rise up and shine in the midst of darkness that has engulfed the world.

“Do something in your school, your workplace, your family and your community to bring light to confront darkness so that all will see that you are full of the light of God,” he charged them, adding that the essence of their assignment on earth is to confront darkness.

Pastor Agyapong said this during Area Youth Joint Service held at the Fred Safo Memorial Temple at Nungua on Monday, November 12, 2018.

He explained that what God brought to the world during creation was light, and that God is light, in Him there is no darkness.

“Today, darkness has covered the earth, works of darkness are all over; rulers of darkness are at work with angels of darkness on assignments. There is always bad news, pornography is in abundance all over social media; Christian music videos are no longer appealing while darkness continues in academia, business and in all sectors of society,” he bemoaned.

Drawing lessons from Isaiah 60:1-3 and other scriptures, the Area Youth Pastor said that it is the responsibility of believers to rise and shine in this perverse generation where darkness is all over the place.

“It is very challenging to be a youth in this era, however God wants us to arise as young people since darkness and light cannot stay together,” he said, adding, “God first created the light and we are children of the light, therefore arise  and confront every darkness in your life.”

According to Pastor Agyapong, as technology is advancing in this generation, and sin equally abounding, the youth should be cautious, saying, “Life has stages and a time will come when you cannot do what you would have wished to do in your youthful days, so it’s time to arise and shine.”

He also read Romans 13:11 where he encouraged the youth to get themselves involved in preaching the word of God both at their workplaces and in schools to let Christ shine in the world.

After the sermon Elder Seth Okla, Assistant Area Youth Leader, led the youth through a time of prayer.
