New Combine District Women’s Ministry Fetes Mentally Challenged Persons

The New Combine District Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost, in collaboration with Dam City TV, Akosombo, has feted mentally challenged persons on the streets of Akosombo and neighbouring communities.

The team, led by the wife of the District Minister, Mrs Esther Kesse, fed all mentally sick persons on the streets from the ATL factory through to Atimpoku, Akrade, Kpong, Nuaso and Agormanya.

The special exercise took place on Boxing Day to show love to the marginalised in society during the Christmas season.

The team was made up of a Mental Health Nurse, a Psychological Counsellor in the person of Mrs Esther Kesse (the District Pastor’s wife), a CID Officer, and delegates from New Combine Women’s Ministry and Dam City TV.

With the help of Dam City TV, the ministry was able to locate the mentally sick persons in their hiding places. The church fed them with rice and stew, soft drinks and mineral water, fully sponsored by the Women’s Ministry, which also fueled the vehicle used for the exercise. In all, 40 mentally challenged persons were located and fed. It was very tedious work for the team, who had to walk a long distance to find them individually. Seeing how these persons aggressively took the food from the team and ate it right in their presence was touching.

The motive behind the great move was to help extend the peace and love in the birth of Christ to the mentally challenged persons who are usually neglected by their families and loved ones.

The team has decided to find time within the year to visit the mentally challenged persons, this time to interact with them to see if some of them can give details about their real families and where they come from so the team can locate their families and counsel them accordingly.

Residents who witnessed the exercise were touched to see The Church of Pentecost feeding the socially marginalised. They praised the church and the leadership for equipping the members with strategic ideas to possess the nations.

Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Women’s Ministry Donates to Royal Seed Orphanage

The Anyaa-Ablekuma Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost has donated items worth GHȼ35,000.00 to support the Royal Seed Orphanage located at Ofaakor, Kasoa.

The donation was made on December 15, 2023, when the Area Head, Apostle William Ohemeng-Kwakye, his wife, Mrs. Comfort Ohemeng-Kwakye, and Deaconess Berlinda Asumadu (Area Women’s Ministry Leader) led a church delegation to the home.

The team was welcomed by the founder of the orphanage, Nana Awo Abena Ntorbea I, the Kontihene of Parkro, along with some caregivers and the children residing at the home.

Providing a brief historical account of the home, Nana Ntorbea mentioned that the Royal Seed Orphanage began as a foundation in 1996, with the registration process completed in 2002.

Recounting her own challenging early years, when she endured great hardship and ended up as a street child, Nana Ntorbea shared that during her painful ordeal, she pledged to start an orphanage to prevent other underprivileged children from suffering the same fate when she succeeded in life.

Nana Ntorbea mentioned feeding, payment of fees—especially for those in tertiary institutions—and logistical support for the children’s upkeep, as the major challenges facing the home.

Despite these challenges, she noted that divine providence consistently met their needs as individuals and organisations, inspired by God, supported the home.

An emotional scene unfolded when the delegation spotted an adorable toddler, one of the home’s children.

Deaconess Berlinda Asumadu empathised with the children and expressed gratitude to the Women’s Ministry leaders at the district and local levels for their contributions to alleviating the children’s plight.

Apostle Ohemeng-Kwakye thanked Nana Ntorbea for her zeal and commitment to the welfare of the vulnerable.

He emphasised the love of God, which he demonstrated by giving His son Jesus to the world, as mentioned in John 3:16, surpasses any other gift that a human being can offer.

Encouraging the children to cherish the love of Jesus despite their challenging circumstances, he advised them to take their spiritual lives seriously and adopt the “No Bible, No Breakfast” (NBNB) principle.

The Area Head ended by praying for the children and urging them to continue placing their faith in God in all circumstances.

The joy resulting from the benevolent act of the Women’s Ministry was evident on the faces of the children and their caregivers.

PIWC West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care For The Elderly” Programme Benefits 150 web

PIWC West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care For The Elderly” Programme Benefits 150

A total of 150 elderly people have benefited from the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) West Hills Women’s Ministry’s “Care for the Elderly” programme.

The number, including widows and widowers from all districts of The Church of Pentecost (CoP) in the Kasoa Area, were freely screened and presented with items, including bags of rice, bottles of oil, drinks, and tomato paste, among others.

For the health screening, services offered included blood sugar tests, blood pressure tests, eye screening, as well as the provision of free medications for persons who needed them. Beneficiaries were also educated on general healthcare issues.

The Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Linda Mante, indicated that the “Care for the Elderly” programme was initiated three years ago under the leadership of the District Women’s Ministry and the leadership of PIWC West Hills.

She explained that the programme focuses on bringing joy to the elderly during the Christmas season.

“We aim to spread warmth and cheer by providing Christmas goodies to elderly individuals, ensuring they feel valued and cherished within our community. This year, we added free health screening to our package,” she added.

Deaconess Mante stressed the need for other churches, ministries, corporate bodies, and individuals to organize similar programmes to ensure the honouring and caring of the elderly.

“As Christians, Proverbs 23:22 reminds us: ‘Listen to your father who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.’ These programs offer crucial social interaction and emotional support, expressing care and gratitude while fostering unity and compassion within our broader society,” she added.

The Women’s Ministry Leader further underscored that her ministry, under the leadership and support of the Resident Minister, Pastor Philip Pascal Asiedu, was committed to continuing the ‘Care for the Elderly’ programme in the coming years.

“Our dedication to this initiative stems from our core values of compassion and community service, and we aim to sustain this meaningful tradition to continually uplift and support the elderly within our community,” she added.

Deaconess Mante used the opportunity to encourage all and sundry to get on board through sponsorships to enable them to expand their resources and provide more substantial assistance and care to a greater number of elderly individuals within their community.

Chairperson of the Planning Committee for the ‘Care for the Elderly’ programme, Cynthia Bonsah, noted that they included the health screening to give persons who couldn’t afford check-ups the opportunity to do so.

She was also hopeful that the Ministry would continue with the gesture to impact more lives.

Deaconess Salome Annoh, Lead, Health Team of the programme, said humans degenerate as they grow old, so they needed screening to be able to find out if something was wrong.

“So that’s for intervention if we find something wrong, then we try to solve it as early as possible to prevent complications,” she added.

Ato Richardson, a beneficiary of the programme from the Mandela Assembly of the Church, said he was extremely happy to be there and thanked the Ministry for the gesture, urging the leadership to continue in the years to come.

A widow, Vida Mensah, from Ebenezer 1 Assembly in the Kakraba District of the Church, blessed the ministry and similarly encouraged them to continue organizing the programme.

Mamprobi District Wins Maiden Dansoman Area Women's Ministry Music Contest web

Mamprobi District Wins Maiden Dansoman Area Women’s Ministry Music Contest

It was all joy and excitement as the choral group of the Mamprobi District of The Church of Pentecost was adjudged overall winners of the maiden Dansoman Area Women’s Ministry music contest.

The event was climaxed the ministry’s annual end-of-year thanksgiving service dubbed “Aseda Kese” Area Joint Service held at the Mamprobi Central Assembly auditorium on Tuesday, December 5, 2023.

It was a beautiful sight to behold as girls and women, (young and ood alike) from the 15 districts turned up in their numbers to observe the much anticipated competition.

The music contest, which took centre stage on the night, saw all the participating districts cladded in Women’s Ministry paraphernalia with different designs and outfits. All the contesting choirs had one paraphernalia or the other in their outfits to show forth their readiness to battle it out for the ultimate.

The contest began with the New Mamprobi Choir, arrayed in their Women’s Ministry branded lacostes ad black skirts to match. They sang, “What Can I Offer to You O’ Lord” composed by Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah (Rtd.) as their opening song and descended the stage with the “Mo Mmo Ose Mma Ne Din” one the songs on the 2018 Theme Songs compilation of the church.

Next to minister was the Women’s Ministry choir from Gbegbeyise District who sang a number of the Women’s Ministry collection of songs which included, “Mmaa Yesom, Yesom Ama Awurade,” “Ye Me Deborah,” among others.

Laterbiokoshie District mounted the stage to unwrap what they had been preparing to offer in the contest. Their opening song signalled victory in their quest for supremacy on the night, ministering “Yesu Ye Me Nkunim Frankaa Yi,” one of the classics from the 2019 Theme Song collection of The Church of Pentecost. They ended their ministration with, “Mede Nwerapa” another song of encouragement from the Women’s Ministry collection of songs.

James McKeown Worship Centre ascended the stage with the popular “Yedawase Yeyi W’aye” song and placed the icing on the cake with a song from the stables of one of Ghana’s renowned gospel musicians, Cindy Thompson’s “Dromo.”

A faith-quickening testimony from Deaconess Janet on God’s provision of the fruit of the womb after several years of childlessness also followed.

Later on, Russia Worship Centre also ascended the stage with the “Mo Yesu Mo” song and went into full force with a Twi Chrsitmas Melody, “Yede Anigye Mawo Afehyiapa” and capped of their ministration with the “Okaa Na W’aye” song.

Mamprobi District did not let down their guns either as they glamourously ascended the stage with one of the Women’s Ministry songs titled, “Adom Bi Asiesie Me” and rounded it up with “Ohempong Kristo No,” another of Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah’s songs.

Glefe District ascended the stage in similar fashion with the ‘Mmaa Moada Anaa’ song and exited the stage with ‘Ebenezer New Nyame De Yen Abeduru Nie’.

Dr. Priscilla Sey, thrilled the house with another of Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah’s songs titled, “Maba Wo Nnwunu Ase” composed in 2012.

Praise Acchord from PIWC Dansoman also took turns to lead the house in some worshipful tunes comprising, “Ebenezer,” “Kronkron Ne Wo Awurade” and “Menso Mene Hwan?”

Sakaman District ascended on stage with another of Apostle Professor Poku Onyinah’s songs titled, “Y’edawase a Efata Wo,” which they also ministered as their main song.

Sahara District though small in their numbers got the house grooving to their cocktail rendition of the ‘Aseda Ben’ by the evergreen Daughters of Glorious Jesus interspersed with Harmonious Chorale’s “Nea Wode Me Abeduru Ni.”

Bethel District, also didn’t fail to unplug one of Apostle Professor Poku Onyinah’s,  “Zion’s Strong Tower” and capped it off with a song titled, “Joy Like A River.”

Dansoman District latched onto “Mo” by Piesie Esther followed by Harmonious Chorale’s “Nea Wode M’abeduru Nie”  and exited the stage with “Oseyie” by SP Kofi Sarpong.

Mpoasei District pulled out one of the 2023 theme songs classic titled, “Gyina” by Rose Ahenkora.

Chemunaa District, however, stole the night with their hand-held battery powered torches with which they ministered their song to drive home a main thought of Jesus as the light of the world. Their choice of music genre was quite different from the others as they all sang in unism and danced energetically in accordance to the typical Ga-speaking coastal lifestyle. Rounding it off with “Jerusalem,” their ministration received the deserving cheers and applause from the audience.

Twereboa District also ministered another of the renowned Ghanaian Police Officer and musician, SP Kofi Sarpong titled, “Mekamfo No.”

A well-crafted poetry recital by Deaconess Eunice Awuah was enough to switch the euphoria for a brief exhortation by Mrs. Rebecca Sey, wife of the Area Head, Apostle Daniel Sey, who was also in attendance.

She spoke on the topic: “The Lord Will Bless You Anyhow,” inspired from 2 Corinthians 9:8.

The judges then took to the podium to deliver the results from accumulated scores after Apostle Daniel Sey led the house in prayer after the exhortation.

The judges gave the five areas of assessment as follows; Vocal Quality, Stage Craft, Creativity in song, Costume and Number of supporting members from the respective districts.

Based on this, New Mamprobi District was adjudged the Best Dressed choir while Gbegeyise District took the award for the District with the highest supporting members.

Gbegbeyise District won another award, coming 4th just behind Chemunaa who took 3rd place.

New Mamprobi District again got themselves in 2nd place with Mamprobi District winning the ultimate.

In attendance were the immediate-past Area Head,  Prophet Ebenezer Appiah, and his wife, Mrs. Janet Appiah, as well as a cross section of the pastorate and their wives.

Also in attendance were past and present Area Women’s Ministry Executive Committee members, District leaders and members from the various districts.

Dansoman Area Women’s Ministry Donates To Motherly Love Orphanage

The Dansoman Area Women’s Ministry of The Church of Pentecost made a significant donation to the Motherly Love Orphanage Home located at Kwabenya in Accra.

The donation included a chest-deep freezer (600Ltrs) to aid food storage in the home, two 43-inch flat-screen television sets, clothing, foodstuff, bags of rice, and sanitary items.

The items were presented during a visit to the Orphanage on Friday, December 1, 2023, observed as National Farmers’ Day.

The Church delegation, comprising Mrs. Rebecca Sey (Wife of the Dansoman Area Head), Deaconess Priscilla Ekpale (Area Women’s Ministry Leader), and the Executive Committee members of the ministry, was led by Apostle Daniel K. Sey (Area Head).

The team also included Elder Samuel Ansong (Area Deacon), and his wife, Deaconess Dr. Georgina Ansong, a cross-section of ministers’ wives in the Area, and some District Women’s Ministry leaders.

They were warmly received by the proprietor of the home, Rev. Azumah, and some of the inmates (children) of the Orphanage.

During an interaction with the delegation, Rev. Azumah gave a brief overview of the history and operations of the Orphanage, mainly consisting of the working staff and the children.

The children, visibly excited by the visit, took turns introducing themselves to the team, after which they thrilled their guests with some Children’s Ministry action songs.

In a brief word of encouragement, Apostle Daniel Sey advised the children to cherish the love in Jesus, saying, “If there’s no love for you anywhere, there’s one for you in Jesus.”

Apostle Sey, contrasting the love shown by the world and that of our Lord Jesus Christ, revealed that the love of Jesus is not selective but for all who may have been rejected elsewhere and look like castaways.

In his concluding remarks, the Dansoman Area Head charged them to stay connected to the vision and mission of the Orphanage, read their Bibles, pray daily, and show the love of Christ to their peers, all under the divine covering of the Lord.

Apostle Sey led the team in prayer for the staff and inmates of the home; then, he presented the items to the Orphanage on behalf of the delegation.

Receiving the items, the proprietor of the home thanked the Dansoman Area Women’s Ministry for benevolently considering them among the numerous orphanages in Accra.

Speaking to PENTECOST NEWS, Deaconess Priscilla Ekpale said, “The day, which was a celebration of Ghanaian Farmers, also doubled as World AIDS Day and seemed to be the best time to reach out, particularly to children in an orphanage home whose lives mainly depended on donations made by individuals, groups, and corporate organisations.”

She was, therefore, very hopeful that the donation would go a long way to aid the upkeep of the children at the Orphanage.
