The Evangelism Ministry of Yennyawoso District in New Tafo Area of The Church of Pentecost, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, held a ceremony to honour its past executive committee members.
The programme, which took place at the Central Assembly, was officiated by the District Minister, Pastor Andrew Adu-Amankwaah. It was well attended by members of the church, officers, and the relatives and loved ones of the honorees.
The honorees, numbering ten, comprised seven Elders, one Deacon and two Deaconesses. They served meritoriously in various capacities in the ministry.
Speaking at the service on the topic, “Fight The Good Fight” based on 2 Timothy 4:7-8 and 1 Corinthians 15:58, Pastor Adu-Amankwaah noted that Apostle Paul purposely wrote both epistles to encourage Christians to remain steadfast in the Lord, keep the faith, preach the Gospel and to endure persecutions since their efforts would not be wasted.
He further explained that just as Apostle Paul excelled in the work of God by fighting the good fight and was very confident of the crown of victory, the same fate awaits those who will stand for the Lord in season and out of season.
“The work of God is so challenging but the good news is that it has a great reward,” he asserted. He, thus, urged the congregants to continue to serve the Lord with good intentions and pure heart irrespective of the circumstances, for a crown of victory awaits them.
Pastor Adu-Amankwaah further commended the honorees for their tireless services and charged the current executive committee members to emulate their efforts in order to bring the mission and the vision of the ministry and the church as a whole to fruition.
The church fervently prayed for the honourees invoking the blessings of God upon their lives. They were subsequently presented with an undisclosed cash amount in recognition of their meritorious services.
The occasion was also used to launch the "Operation One Member, One Discipled Soul" campaign, where special awards were presented to ‘soul winners,' members who have been able to win and maintain souls for the Lord.
According to the District Evangelism Leader, Elder Luke Obeng Acheampong, the exercise was aimed at revitalizing the evangelistic zeal and passion in the members to win more souls for Christ which is the prime duty of every believer.
