80-year-old Deaconess Doris Ofeibea Awuku was among a group of women from the Efutu District in the Cape Coast Area who embarked on a familiarisation tour of the General Headquarters of The Church of Pentecost at La, Accra on Thursday, September 7, 2017.
Like the biblical Simeon in Luke 2:25-35 who eagerly waited for the coming of the Messiah before his death, Madam Ofeibea, who could barely walk insisted on joining the trip to the Head Office to see the growth of the Church before her home call.
She told the General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, that there has been a great change at the Head Office, which according to her, used to be a bushy area they used as prayer ground in times past.
The retired nurse, who was once an Assistant District Women’s Ministry Leader in Cape Coast, commended the leadership of the church for working tirelessly to make it a leading global church.
According to her, she worked closely with former key personalities in the Church like Prophet Martinson Kwadwo Yeboah (former Chairman), Apostle Rigwell Ato Addison (former General Secretary), Apostle Ladejo, among others.
The General Secretary, Apostle Alexander Nana Yaw Kumi-Larbi, who earlier addressed the women at his office, took time out of his busy schedule to meet the octogenarian who could not go to the office due to old age, to interact and take photograph with her.
The women led by the wife of the District Pastor, Mrs. Esther Opoku, and the District Women’s Ministry Leader, Deaconess Faustina Quainoo, expressed their happiness about the trip and the progress the Church has made and continues to make. The trip earlier took them to the Pentecost Convention Centre (PCC) at Gomoa Fetteh. They ended it at the studios of Pent TV.
