Scores of youth in the Walewale Area of The Church of Pentecost thronged the Nalerigu Senior High School for a 3-day camp meeting dubbed ‘Joy Explosion Cross-Over Summit.’
The programme which was on the theme, “Christ in Me, My Hope of Glory” (Colossians 1:27), was attended by youth across the 18 districts of the Area.
Opening the summit, Overseer Peter Quayson, the Area Youth Ministry Leader, disclosed that the camp meeting was aimed at character transformation, empowerment, and discipleship for the youth to become examples of Christ for community impact.
He thus urged all participants to position themselves strategically to experience a transformation that will release them as agents of change in their respective fields of endeavours.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Area Head, Overseer Peter Quayson underscored the need for participants to exhibit traits and marks of Jesus Christ. Using Apostle Paul’s encounter on the road to Damascus as a case study, he identified a transformed life, renewed heart and mind, constant devotional lifestyle, ability to yield to the Holy Spirit, and love for the church and the saints as the cardinal marks of a transformed person.
In pursuing the holistic development of the youth, ample time was devoted to treating topics such as the ‘Devotional Life of a Believer,’ ‘Time Management,’ ‘Career Choices and Chastity in a Sex-crazed Generation.’ Also, the participants engaged in aerobics and sports activities to inculcate the habit of healthy living through daily exercise.
The programme was climaxed with the ‘Joy Explosion Night of Worship’ which was a time of worship and impartation of spiritual gifts. The congregation was fed with soul-inspiring songs from individuals and the Nalerigu Assemblies of God Choir.
Participants were also taken through intensive prayers which resulted in deliverance from the stranglehold of various addictions while spiritual gifts were impacted. In all, six prophetic songs were received while three members received the gift of prophecy.
