Fifty youth
drawn from the Greater Accra Region embarked on a three-day evangelistic trip to
the Gomoa Afransi District of the Church from November 28 to 30, 2008. They were
distributed in groups and sent to Darhon, Ofaso, Gyaman, Akwamu and Kukofu – all
towns in the district. Their presence brought revival and many people were
delivered from various spiritual bondages.
In Akwamu,
the youth met a middle-aged woman called Paulina Appiah, whose parents had
sought help from a fetish for her birth, had been going through several attacks
from the spirit world. The parents, in an attempt to find a solution to their
problem, visited a lot of places including some fetishes and spiritual churches
one of which had taken them through “obagyina”, a Fante ritual for stopping
infant mortality.
Paulina
herself had lost two children through confrontation with a spirit which always
tormented her and blocked her success in any economic venture. After going
through deliverance, Paulina Appiah gave her life to Christ and was subsequently
baptized.
In another instance, Kweku Taiwiah, a
well-known wizard who claimed to have the Akwamu town in his hands like an egg,
gave his life to Jesus. He was taken through a deliverance session during which
he made a lot of confessions about his exploits.
A total of 278 souls accepted Jesus as
Lord and Saviour with 27 receiving baptism. The break down is as follows: Gyaman
– 62, Akwamu – 65, Ofaso – 32, Afransi 44, Afransi 60 and Kokofu – 15.
Thirty-three people received the Holy Ghost baptism.
