THE NTUMYS SENT OFF IN GRAND STYLE |

To the General Council of COP, Apostle Dr. Ntumy’s
election as Chairman in 1998 opened a new chapter in
the Church and that “he was a result-oriented leader
who was committed to his vision.”
Preaching the sermon at the farewell service, Rev.
John Glass, President of the Elim Pentecostals, UK,
recounted how God gave Ntumy as a gift to the Church
some ten years ago to help steer the affairs of the
Church to date.
Quoting from Amos7:8, Rev. Glass urged the Church to
pursue God’s agenda instead of man’s agenda because
the “ word of God which is a ‘plumb line’ will be
used to measure achievements of the Church.”
Rev. Glass said the vision of the almond tree shown
to Jeremiah represented a new season, fruit-bearing
and the hope for further growth and so the Church
should expect greater things as Apostle Dr. Ntumy
leaves and Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah takes over.
Rev. Glass said the expected growth, fruit-bearing
and expansion in the future would depend not on past
experiences of the Church but sensitivity to the
Holy Spirit.
In their response, Apostle Dr. Ntumy, on behalf of
his family, expressed his appreciation to the
Executive Council, the pastorate, members of the
Church, other religious and para-church bodies in
and outside Ghana, friends in the society at large
for their support, prayers, co-operation during his
tenure as Chairman.
Dignitaries present at the farewell included His
Excellency, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, the Vice President,
Bishop Dr. Charles Agyin Asare, General Overseer of
the Word Miracle Church International, Rev Owusu,
President of the Bible Society of Ghana, Mr. Jude
Hama, Director of the Scripture Union, Ghana, among
others.

Apostle Dr Michael Kwabena Ntumy, the immediate-past Chairman of the Church, and
his family were sent off on Sunday, September 7, 2008 at the forecourt of the
Ghana International Trade Fair Centre at La in Accra as they relocate to
Germany.
The farewell service which was moderated by Apostle Alfred Koduah, General
Secretary, was attended by the Church public, religious and para-church leaders
in Ghana, COP National Heads, Area Heads in Ghana, the pastorate, friends and
well-wishers.
Apostle Dr. M. K. Ntumy had served his two five-year term as Chairman and was
replaced by Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, Rector of the Pentecost University
College, at the General Council Meetings held in April this year.
In a citation, the Ghana Pentecostal Council, described him “as a leader worthy
of emulation who created a sense of belonging in the GPC” and “added quality and
quantity to the fortunes of the umbrella body.”
The Ghana Bible Society congratulated Apostle Ntumy on initiating the project of
free distribution of one million Bibles to students in Junior High Schools in
Ghana.
The officers in COP said Apostle Ntumy had a
permanent smile which made it difficult for people
to know his thoughts; he is a wonderful preacher and
Bible teacher.
