This figure was disclosed by the Rector of PUC, Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, in his welcome address at the fourth matriculation ceremony of the university held at the McKeown Auditorium on Saturday, September 29, 2007.

The Rector reminded the freshmen to be above reproach in their conduct on campus in the light of the

ethical standards and the moral code of the University adding that “the university authorities have had cause to dismiss and suspend some students for unruly behaviour.”

Dr. Paul Awuah, Chairman of the University Council, advised the freshmen to resolve any impasse that might crop up between them and the authorities amicably without recourse to demonstration and violence.

The special guest of honour, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Private Sector Development, said that the PUC was “acquitting itself creditably and that its phenomenal growth is a clear testimony of the vote of confidence by Ghanaians in this young institution.”

The Deputy Minister noted that the University’s programmes tally very much with the country’s manpower needs and hoped that it would continue to produce well-rounded human resource base to facilitate the nation’s socio-economic developmental agenda.
