The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has assured government’s readiness to give each Ghanaian a bank account.
The bank account, according to the vice president, would be materialized beginning from January 2018.
According to him, to have a digitised economy, it has become necessary for the government to support each Ghanaian youth to own a bank account.
Dr Bawumia, who was speaking at the official opening ceremony of the 2017 Innovation Week at the Kofi Annan-India Centre in Accra, said that over 70 per cent of the Ghanaian population do not have bank accounts, hence the government’s decision to assist every Ghanaian to own one.
