Parliament on Tuesday constituted a 20-member Select Committee to facilitate the selection of members into the various Committees of the House.
Reverend Professor Aaron Michael Ocquaye, the Speaker of Parliament, is to chair the Selection Committee, which includes the leadership from both sides of the House as members.
There are 16 Select Committees and 11 Standing Committees of Parliament.
The House in determining the membership for various Committees, would work with the ratio of 169:106 or 61:39.
Mr Osei Kyei-Mensa-Bonsu, the Majority Leader, in a statement on the floor of the House, said the decision on the selection was on the basis of Order 151 and 152 of the Standing Orders of the House.
The 19 members, who would add to the Speaker to constitute the 20-member committee are: Mr Osei Kyei-Mensa- Bonsu, the Majority Leader; Ms, Sarah Adjoa Sarfo, Deputy Majority Leader; Mr Kwesi Ameyaw Cheremeh, MP for Sunyani East; Mathew Nyindam, MP for Kpandai; Mr Moses Anim, MP for Trobu; Mr Dominic Nitiwul, MP for Bimbilla; and Mr Ambrose Dery, MP for Nandom.
Others are Mr Ignatius Baffuor Awuah, MP for Sunyani West; Daniel Botwe, MP for Okere; Mrs Ama Pomaa Boateng MP for Juaben; Mrs Barbara Oteng Gyasi, MP for Prestea Huni Valley; and Mrs Cynthia Morrison, MP for Agona West.
On the Minority side are Mr Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South; Mr James Klutse Avedzi, Deputy Minority Leader and MP for Ketu North; Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak, Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase; Mr Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, MP for Ellembele, Mr Ebenezer Okletey Teye-Larbi, MP for Lower Manya Krobo; Alhaji Collins Dauda, MP for Asutifi South; and Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe Ghansah, MP for Ada.
“Leadership accordingly recommends for the approval of the House, the proposed formula, based on the agreed ratio of 169:106 or 61:39, for the composition of membership of committees, parliamentary delegations and other parliamentary groups and associations and the membership of the Committee of Selection.
