Gbandabila District Dedicates First Church Building

Date: January 8, 2018

The Kolivai Assembly church building of the Gbandabila District of The Church of Pentecost was dedicated on Sunday, December 17, 2017, by the Walewale Area Head, Evangelist Francis Yaw Adu. He was assisted by the District Minister, Overseer Benjamin Elijah Baidoo, at a colourful ceremony in Kolinvai.

In attendance were Mrs Esther Adu, wife of the Walewale Head, Mrs Linda Baidoo, wife of the Gbandabila District Minister, and the Kolinva Assembly Presiding Leader. The Kolinvai Naaba and his twelve sub-chiefs, Alhaji Tanko [the donor of the land for the building project], and the representative of the Kolinvai Imam, the Jimbale Chief were also present.

The Kolinvai Assembly was opened in 2001 by the then Nalerigu District Pastor Daniel Frimpong Manso. Initially, the church met in a classroom until they were evicted somewhere in 2003. The Assembly has since been meeting under a tree.

By divine intervention, the Head Office through the then Area Head, Apostle Samuel Gakpetor gave the local a Community Based Church Building (CBCB) grant of GHȼ35,000.00 this year. Out of benevolence, Alhaji Tanko gave the church a 200 by 90 feet piece of land at no cost.

Consequently, the District Minister and his executives readily saw to the completion of the building.  The District Minister and his family donated GHȼ6,000.00 whiles the local also added GHȼ530.00 to see to its completion. The Kolinvai Church Building is the first place of worship to be dedicated in the one-year-old District.

In addition, the building has an Information Centre attached for the propagation of the Gospel and to serve the community at large. This was also donated by Overseer Baidoo and his family.

In his final remarks, the Area Head commended the Executive Council for the CBCB initiative, the former Area Head, the District Minister, the chiefs and people of Kolinvai and the Kolinvai Assembly for the beautiful edifice. He then charged the members to put it into its intended use in order to bring glory to God.
