Be An Example Of Christ In Your Generation - Christians Urged

Date: January 3, 2017

Christians have been admonished to make conscious effort to put on the character of Christ in order to positively impact their communities and the nation.

The Alajo District Minister of The Church of Pentecost, Pastor Peter Mensah Yanney, gave this admonition in a New Year message at the Alajo English Assembly.

Giving an exposition on this year’s theme of The Church of Pentecost, “Being an Example of Christ in My Generation”(1 Corinthians 4:16-17) and 1 Corinthians 11:1, Pastor Yanney explained: “Being an example of Christ means denying one’s self, where one does not live for him/herself again but for Christ.

“It is whereby believers make conscious effort to live the will of God on earth by being heavenly and mission minded.”

He entreated believers to be imitators of Christ and betrue replica of His character on earth. “Love one another in acts, speech and in conduct, and care for the lost,” he said, adding, “Christians are supposed to be the light that lead others to Christ and not into darkness, because we are ambassadors of Christ on earth.”

According to him, Christ cared for the lost and needy and humbled himself as a great leader to wash His disciples’ feet. Christ also preached all the time. In like manner, he admonished Christians to be caring and humble to one another, and also preach the gospel both in season and out of season.

He further called on Christians to make good use of the social media to propagate the word of God at all times.

“In your challenging andtrying moments, preach Christ, remain frank and faithful to God,  andnever compromise with sin no matter the situation,” he stated.

Pastor Yanney also called on parentsto be good examples to their children, because children are always a photocopy of parents, saying, “Don’t be a sign post by preaching virtue and practicing vice.”
