For Reading: RUTH 1:4-18 (NKJV)
MEMORY VERSES: “And Ruth said, Do not beg me to leave you, to return from following after you. For where you go, I will go. Where you stay, I will stay. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. May the LORD do so to me, and more also, if anything but death parts you and me.”( RUTH 1:16,17)
Dear reader of this devotion I would like you to reflect on this passage to understand that sometimes, certain people must leave for others to receive their breakthrough. Let Orpah leave so that Ruth could receive her blessing. Orpah means a gazelle (Deer-like animal that moves quickly and has large or big eyes), a Moabite woman, wife of Chilion son of Naomi, and thereby sister-in-law to Ruth.
Orpah is not persistent in life. She had big eyes, She is attracted to materialism, carnal minded and follow vanity of this world. The nature and the character of Orpah cannot be attributed to Christ. According to verse 14. It is clear that Orpah planned to leave to her people, and unto her gods. Would you also leave this grace? And immediately she left, Ruth made positive declaration. I would not go away from you, or to go back without you: for where you go I will go; and where you take your rest I will take my rest; your people will be my people and your
God my God. Orpah followed her gods but Ruth followed Jehovah God, and her life was glorious. Who are your people in times of trouble? Who is your God when you are under pressure? (JWK)
Would you also go?
Can you take the decision Ruth took?
Lord Jesus, give me the grace and the ability to hold on to you.
When the pressure is more there and then we see the champion.
