Date: July 29, 2017
The Chairman of The Church of Pentecost, Apostle Professor Opoku Onyinah, on Friday, July 28, 2017, dedicated the ultra-modern A. T. Nartey Memorial Temple at Bantama of the Bompata Area in Kumasi.
The disability-friendly two-storey building, which is arguably the biggest church auditorium currently in Ghana with the seating capacity of 5,000 congregants, was constructed at the total cost of about GH¢2.4million. It has two galleries, 11 offices, a library, a 50-seater conference room, and washrooms, among other facilities.
Present to assist the Chairman were the Bompata Area Head, Apostle Abraham Lincoln Angoh; Atebubu Area Head, Apostle Kenneth Baffoe Antwi; Dansoman Area Head and former District Minister of Bantama, Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi; the wife of the Chairman, Mrs. Grace Opoku Onyinah; the current District Minister, Pastor Aaron Yaw Kyei, past ministers of the District and the pastorate in the Area.
Others were the Chief of Atwuma Afrancho, Nana Odei Nsiah; the Chief of Nebehi, Nana Bona Manu; the Secretary to the Bantamahene, Madam Charity Osei Owusu, the clergy from the Assemblies of God and Deeper Life Churches, among others.
The Bantama Assembly originated from North Suntreso Assembly. In 1967, members who resided at Bantama were directed by the then Regional Head, the late Apostle J. C. Quaye, to fellowship at the Bantama Methodist School at Abrepo Junction with the late Elder E. K. Adusah as the first Presiding Elder, with only 20 members. In 1994, the then Chairman, Prophet M. K. Yeboah, dedicated the first church building constructed by the assembly.
The vision to construct the ultra-modern church building was conceived by the then District Minister, Pastor Ben Ampea Badu in 2003, due to the fast growing nature of the Assembly. The sod-cutting to commence the construction of the new building and the foundation stone laying ceremonies were performed by the late Apostle F. E. Antwi on 6th March, 2005 and 6th August, 2006 respectively.
Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah prayed that the glory and presence of God will fill the new church building so that all those who come there with their challenges will receive swift answers to their prayers. He asked for God’s blessing upon everyone who contributed to the construction of the building and those will continue to give to support its maintenance and also serve in the building.
Delivering the sermon at the service on the topic, “Imitating the Faithfulness of Christ,” the Dansoman Area Head, Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi, said faithfulness is one of the key attributes of God which He shares with humanity.
He said through the faithfulness of God, believers are forgiven of their sins and are shown mercy.
According to him, Jesus Christ is the embodiment of God’s faithfulness, and that every believer must imitate Christ by exhibiting His faithfulness in all spheres of life - in marriages, workplaces, relationship with their children and with others, their service in the house of God and in paying their tithes.
Apostle Onyinah Gyamfi charged Christians to be faithful and honest by avoiding double-standard lifestyles which do not portray the good deeds of Christ.
