The 13th Head
Office Annual Management and Staff Residential Retreat ended on the main campus
of the Pentecost University College Sowutuom, Accra, on January 8, 2010, with a
call on workers to allow the indwelling Christ to transform their lives.
Noting that no one could
see God and live, based on the current theme of the Church – Being transformed
into the image of Christ in a changing world (2 Cor. 3: 18) – the Chairman,
Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, said exposure to the word of God and persistence in
prayer lead to a personal experience of God that destroys one’s sinful nature,
replacing it with a godly nature.
He noted that real
transformation begins from the heart, without which what one practices is mere
religion.
The two main speakers –
Apostle Francis Ofori Yeboah, La Area Head; and Prophet J. O. Amaniampong,
Dansoman Area Head – spoke on different perspectives of the theme.
Speaking on the topic ‘The
transformed worker in a changing world,’ Apostle Ofori Yeboah observed that
besides spiritual rebirth which also ushers the Christian into eternal life, God
“takes interest in our secular work and (He) is glorified when we work
assiduously.”
He called on the staff to
listen to, obey the voice of God and submit to His will, adding that the
transformed worker, “as he undertakes his rightful place in the kingdom
business, reflects the glory of God.”
Prophet J. O. Amaniampong
spoke on the topic ‘Projecting the image of Christ at the work place,’ urging
workers to approach their work with a missionary-mindedness which projects the
image of Christ to all.
He challenged them to apply
the principles of Christianity to work, taking their work places as avenues for
worship and outreach for souls.

One of the
groups discussing during the workshops.
Highlights of the retreat
included a workshop on ‘Good interpersonal relations and its effects on
productivity,’ and ‘The Christian, the trappings of office and self-discipline.’
There were also a staff
durbar, discussions on the Administrative Manual, Financial Manual and Scheme
Service and the election of a new Staff Representative Council (SRC) President
and members.
The new SRC
President, Elder D. C. Agyarko, making his acceptance speech, supported by other
Council members
Nine staff who had served
the Head Office honourably between six and 27 years were also retired
honourably, while others received long-service awards.
The programme ended on
Friday, January 8, with a communion service officiated by Apostle N. A. O.
Amegatcher, PEMEF Director.
Preaching on Christ as the
Bread of Life, Prophet B. A. Adobah, Children’s Movement Director, said the
small size, white colour and round shape of the manna taken in the desert
represent the Lord Jesus.
He said its small size
represents Jesus as a baby while its roundness points to Christ’s sufficiency in
meeting the needs of those who put their trust in Him.
He related the whitish
nature of the manna to the holiness and purity of Christ which, he urged every
Christian to aspire to.
