The Chairman, Apostle Dr. Opoku
Onyinah, has advised Apostles, Prophets and Evangelists of the Church against
undermining one another in the course of their work.
He said rather than bite or devour
one another by spreading rumours about themselves, they should investigate what
they hear since such rumours might not be true.
Urging them to be their brothers’
keepers, he noted: “If you hear something about your brother, do not immediately
accept or spread it, (since) it may not be true.”
Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah made the
observation while closing the fasting and prayer meeting of the College of
Apostles, Prophets and Evangelists held at the Pentecost Pension Guest House,
Gbawe, Accra, from January 19 to 22, 2010.
He advised them to be sensitive to
the views of others, remembering that Jesus has a humble, perfect, constant,
patient, noble, loving and thankful mind.
He stressed the cardinal principle
accepted by the College to be open-minded and flexible about non-doctrinal
issues, stressing that practices that might have been beneficial to the Church
in the past might no longer be relevant in the present scheme of things, or even
understood in contemporary times.
He reiterated that the goal of the
new decisions is not to stop teaching or correcting in line with the Scriptures.
The meeting, among others, took
far-reaching decisions on the covering of the haed by women, the wearing of
trousers or slacks by female visitors to church and the right attitude towards
Rastafarians and people in dreadlocks attending church services for the first
time.
