REV. DR. PETER KYEI, RECTOR OF THE
PENTECOST UNIVERSITY College, has cautioned against bootlicking and hypocrisy
among officers of the Church and urged adherence to truth and genuine love in
Christian relations.
He descended on hypocrisy and
bootlicking with the intention of pleasing higher officials of the Church, or
getting undeserved favours, adding that that often leads to the siphoning of
tithes and offerings to meet given targets and the inflation of church
statistics.
He said Christians in every sphere of
authority in the Church should imbibe the servant-leadership style of Christ and
stand for the truth in spite of possible disgrace or desertion by friends.
Rev. Dr. Peter Kyei was speaking at a
four-day Dansoman Area's officers' retreat held at the Pentecost University
College, Sowutuom, Accra, at the close of January 2009 under the theme 'The God
of The Living is Your God for Today.' His topic was 'The Leadership Style of
Jesus.'
Stressing the importance of
safeguarding the truth, the Rector spoke against staying silent when the truth
should be told, making promises one has no intention to fulfill or being a
yes-man just because one does not want to offend.
