Some of the decisions taken at the
November Heads Meeting and extracts from the VISION 2013 that need immediate
implementation.
Movements’ Conventions
In view of the numerous transfer
services and movement of personnel in August each year, Movements' conventions
have, henceforth, been shifted from August to July. This is to ensure that such
conventions are fully patronised.
Calling of Officers
It has become necessary to more
prayerfully screen proposed officers before ordination. The interview of
proposed officers by Ministerial Committees at all levels must be taken very
seriously. All proposed officers will be required to go through the Lay
Leadership training programme.
Transfer of Officers
Arbitrary transfer of officers from one
assembly to another must be discouraged. District ministers must seek the
approval of their Area Heads before effecting any transfer of officers.
Review of Offices
It is the policy of the Church that all
reviewable offices must be reviewed when due. Area Heads and District Pastors
are to ensure the implementation of this policy.
Hymns of Other Denominations
Hymns of other denominations used by the
Church should not be labeled “COP song/hymn” as those hymns are technically not
for the COP.
Testimonies and Tributes
It is preferable that testimonies and
tributes be read in the local dialect to ensure effective understanding by the
congregation.
Post-Sermon Prayer
It has been decided that post-sermon
prayer would no longer feature on our programmes. The chairman of the service
would have to be in tune with the Spirit to direct affairs. If the chairman
wants to pray after the sermon, he may do so. Pentecostal spontaneity would have
to replace the programme-consciousness emerging in the Church.
Delta Airlines
Delta Airlines is offering missionary
discounts on its fares to The Church of Pentecost community. All interested
ministers, officers and members travelling to the USA, may apply to the General
Secretary for a letter of introduction. This offer holds good for only
travellers to the USA.
Effective Date For Ministerial
Transfers
To enable ministers' children get school
placement, the effective date for all ministerial transfers is slated for
September 1, of each year, by which time all transferred ministers shall have
reached their new stations.
Circulars
The Church public needs to be educated
on Church matters and developments. It is therefore being directed that
policy-containing circulars must be read more than once to the officers and
members to enable everybody to hear and understand Church policies. The bulk of
all such circulars for a period must be re-read and explained at officers'
retreats.
Assemblies Worshipping Under Trees
And In Classrooms
It has been decided that assemblies that
worship under trees and in classrooms must endeavour to move out of those places
and try to construct chapels so that they can benefit from the newly-introduced
chapel roofing top-up fund.
Medical Examination
All ministers and their wives, as well
as office staff, are required to undergo compulsory annual medical examination.
This must be enforced in all Areas.
Sefwi Wiawso, Essam Debiso And Kasoa
Areas
For the sake of convenience, it is
directed that Sefwi Wiawso and Essam Debiso Areas join Ashanti Region whenever
regional programmes are organised. Kasoa Area would also join Greater Accra
Region.
Church Finance
The policy directives on church finance
are contained in the Ministers’ Handbook (pages 108-118). These must be
diligently studied in conjunction with the Tithes Review Committee’s
recommendations and strictly adhered to.
FAM System
The FAM system is to be phased out soon,
in the light of the engagement of many qualified accounting officers in the
Church and the need to encourage the Area Deacons to play their roles fully.
