DECISIONS FROM NOVEMBER PRAYER MEETING, 2009

The annual fasting and prayer meeting of the Executive Council, National/Area Heads, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Directors of Movements/Ministries, Rector, Deans of the PUC came off at the Pentecost Guest House, Gbawe, Accra, from November 10 to 14, 2009. Following are some major decisions taken at the meeting and released by the Office of the Chairman on Thursday, November 10, 2009.

CORRECT TITLE OF THE EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

The church public is hereby informed that, constitutionally, there is nothing like the International Executive Council. The constitutional title is the Executive Council. The Council, therefore, admonishes that all and sundry address the Council as such.

 SPELLING OF THE FOUNDER’S NAME

The founder’s name McKeown has often been spelt differently by many people on several occasions. The correct spelling of the name is McKeown and not Mckeown.

REPORT ON CHURCH SURVEY

The report on the survey on church attendance has indicated that the percentage of church attendance nationwide was 52.2% for overall membership; 49.3% for adults and 58.3% for children. The Executive Council appeals to the leadership at all levels to do well to improve the percentage attendance, especially on Sundays.

RESPECTING THE USE OF OTHER LANGUAGES IN THE CHURCH

It has been observed that the use of the Twi language is dominant in some places where other languages prevail. This practice may make our worshipping sessions foreign and unattractive to such neglected language users. It is, therefore, being advised that every effort be made to encourage the use of the other local languages. Translation into other languages (where such language speakers exist in considerable numbers) should be encouraged to ensure that no one is sidelined linguistically.

INTRODUCTION OF “WE CARE” DAY

The Executive Council has taken notice of the less-privileged who need to be ministered to in practical ways. Accordingly, one Sunday is to be set aside every year to express practical love to such members. That Sunday has been christened “We Care” Day. On that day, all assemblies are to take offerings and collect items for distribution to the needy. The first of such offerings is scheduled for January 10, 2010.

 ORDINATION OF OFFICERS

It has become necessary that proposed officers, who have gone through the vetting processes successfully, be made to fill the officers’ declaration forms which capture the main duties of officers.  On the day of ordination, they are to come along with the forms and be made to reaffirm. This may help such officers know and perform their expected duties judiciously. Copies of the completed forms are to be placed on file at the District and Area levels.

 DOCUMENTATION OF LANDED PROPERTIES

The church leadership is reminded of the need for documentation of all landed properties. This will reduce the occurrence of litigations in future.  Districts and Areas are admonished to make budgetary provisions to fund the documentation of the church’s landed properties. Accordingly, they are being reminded to make maximum use of the services of the Church’s professional Estate Officers at the Headquarters, Kumasi and Takoradi.

 CHRISTMAS CONVENTIONS

The church public is once more reminded of the coming Christmas conventions. They are to be held at Area/Zonal or District levels, as may be decided. The Executive Council encourages all members to participate in the spread of the gospel during this season and to actively participate for a spiritual renewal. All convention proceeds should be submitted along with the December tithes.

 NOISE-MAKING DURING CHURCH SERVICES

As a follow-up to my last letter to the churches, I still wish to remind all Assemblies to exhibit decorum in our musical renditions during worship. Music during our services must not be noisy, but rather be tuned properly and played professionally. We cannot win our immediate neighbours into the Church if we continually make too much noise during services.

 CHANGE OF DISTRICT NAMES

 WRONG USAGE OF CHURCH LOGO

It has come to the knowledge of the Executive Council that some people misuse the Church’s logo. We advise that the logo be used appropriately as represented in the Church’s letterhead and on its flag. All should be mindful of the appropriate colours as well as the right positioning of all other emblems in the logo.
